Making Your Mark…

This is one of my favourite books AND my witchy bible. I don’t normally advacate writing in books. But in this case I write in this book a lot. I decided I wanted to add to the book.

So I’ll add to the entries Scott made, such as anything new I’ve found in folk lore books. I also add plants that are not there and I also add information on herbs I’ve  descovered myself through feeling their energies through touch or dowsing.

So make it your own. Add to it your own findings. Don’t be affraid to experiment by feeling plants vibration and listen to what they are telling you  and note it down!

One True Home

IMG_20180508_191420_173

We have one TRUE home…Mother Earth! When it all goes wrong, we cannot pack our bags and move some where else! This is it!
.
.
.
We are her caretakers and protectors of all life…That is how it is meant to be!!
.
.
.
As Pagans we MUST step up and be counted. Make ourselves heard! And set an example to those who do not follow our path!
.
.
.
We must not cherry pick what we do and do not protect! We must not contradict who and what we stand for by acting against the Earth and all her children!
.
.
.
Remember…Mother Earth isn’t just OUR home!! ~•●)○(●•~

7 Witchy Ways To Use Your Garden Herbs

Witchy-Ways-Sage-Thyme2-The-Hip-Homestead.jpg

As a witch I love to work with herbs. I use them as tea, in fact 99% of the time I only drink herbal tea. I also use them as handmade incense, pouches, herbal sprays and potions; as well as cooking.

Here is an article of some of the ways you can use home grown herbs!

The garden is so abundant right now and the fall equinox has passed which means it’s time to bring in the last of the garden herbs and put them to good use. I’m always one for drying herbs for cooking, to add to soups and stews when the weather gets cold, but sometimes I feel like something’s missing – like there is more to garden herbs than just their culinary uses.

Also, All Hallow’s Eve is right around the corner which has me feeling a little extra witchy these days. So to celebrate the turning of the seasons, I’ve compiled my list of 7 Witchy Ways to Use Your Garden Herbs, where I’ll be discussing other uses for your witchy herbs, uses that lie beyond the kitchen.

Witchy tip #1:
Drink Mint & Lemon Balm for Health

Mint and Lemon Balm are abundant in my garden and so easy to grow. Mint is known to soothe the digestive system and lemon balm is said to calm the nerves and restore youth. These herbs can be either steeped together in hot water for a light herbal tea or pop a few leaves in your daily water bottle to add a refreshing cool flavour to your daily 8 glasses. Either way, drink these witchy herbs daily to restore your health and vitality.

You Can Heal Yourself Using The Chi Energy of Trees According to Taoist Masters…

You-Can-Heal-Yourself-Using-The-Chi-Energy-of-Trees-According-to-Taoist-Masters....jpg

For me this makes complete sense. Even before reading this small article I knew this.  Think about it; you can have the darkest of moods, but when you step into a woodland or forest, within a short time your mood will lighten.

There is something that is unmistakably magical about woodlands. The energy they are filled with is pure positivity. I will always feel emotionally and spiritually lighter once I have visited our local woodland.

I also feel that any mental and emotional fog is lifted. I can think much more clearly and I feel more spiritually alive. And there is no mistaking the energy you feel when you hug a tree (yes that’s a thing I do. I am a tree hugger and proud of it).

Hope you enjoy the article and do share your own tree healing experiences.

Trees are very powerful according to Taoist masters. Aside from absorbing carbon dioxide and turning it into oxygen, trees also have the ability to absorb negative energy and transform it into positive.

The roots of trees dig deep into Earth, the deeper their roots, the higher they rise to the skies. They absorb the energy of the Earth as well as the universal force of the sky.

Trees are considered the most spiritually advanced plant on Earth because of their constant meditation with subtle energy.

You can establish a relationship with trees so long as you understand their language. And they can help you open up your energy channels to cultivate calm, presence and vitality.

They also can benefit from you when you help them eliminate their blocks and devitalized parts. Like any other relationships, you benefit from each other by the constant cultivation of your connection….

blowWelcome back! I hope you are having a great day so far and I hope that you can find a little time for yourself today. What did your card say today?

Today’s spell is about writing our one year Halloween wish. Set the tone and the mood, by lighting some candles and have a simmer pot to send out some classic fall scents. Try adding cinnamon stick, nutmeg, cloves, small piece of lemon and a vanilla bean to a small pot of water. Let it simmer slowly, the smell is amazing. Time to pull up a chair at your altar and get to work.

letter2You will need a piece of paper, pen, 2 candles and some twine or strong thread. Start writing a letter to yourself about what you will do, achieve, want and other goals for a year, until October 2018. Be in a good mood and be alone…

We Never Stop Learning

Don’t ever be fooled into thinking the craft is not old. It truly is. Wicca is very new. It came about 10 years before I was born. But witchcraft itself is very old. And it isn’t the same as it started. Today we have coloured candles, crystals, exotic herbs and spices. And of course the internet. Witchcraft has evolved and grown as the centuries have passed; as it should. And we as witches, have also evolved and grown.

And the only way that this can happen is to be always open to learning new things. We learn from our own discoveries and from one another, and that’s how it should be. If you close yourself from learning you will not grow as a witch or as an individual. There will always be those who have been on this path many years who feel nobody can teach them anything new. But they’re very wrong. And those you learn from don’t need to have been on the path as long as yourself. We can still learn even from the younger and less experienced.

I do believe witches of the past would have met up with others. Swapped ideas, recipes and experiences.

Often people will use the term ‘eclectic witch’, but I feel we were always eclectic. Always gathering ideas, new spells and so on from others we met. From various traditions around even our own country. So I must admit I dislike that term as we are all eclectic whether you’ll admit it or not. The moment you read a book written by another witch you are learning new things from another witch. You are gathering new ideas and ways.

So never stop learning. Keep evolving and growing. And share with others. No matter your path or how long you have been walking it, you are always learning, growing. You are always gathering and adding to your personal collection of knowledge!
